Orbit Studio — Remote Dev Extension for VS Code
#1
Orbit Studio is the VS Code extension that enables real-time remote development for Orbit OS devices. With it, you can connect directly to your device (Raspberry Pi, Arduino UNO Q, or any certified hardware) and edit, test, and debug your .orb apps without manually deploying after every change — updates reflect live on the device.

A note on availability: Orbit Studio isn't on the VS Code Marketplace yet — it's currently going through the approval process. Once it's live there, installation will be a one-click affair. In the meantime, we'll be posting new releases and their changelogs right here in this forum, so keep an eye on this thread for updates and manual install instructions until the Marketplace listing goes through.

This forum exists for:
  • Installation and setup questions — issues connecting Orbit Studio to your device, SDK configuration, authentication, and similar setup hurdles.
  • Release announcements & changelogs — new builds posted here ahead of the official Marketplace launch.
  • Workflow sharing — how other developers structure their development cycle with live reload, remote debugging, and integration with the SDKs.
  • Bugs and feedback — reporting unexpected extension behavior, suggesting features, discussing known limitations.
  • Real-world use cases and examples — projects built with Orbit Studio (e.g. Sprinqua, FluxSolar), tips from developers who've already hit the same roadblocks.
  • Hardware compatibility — discussion on which boards/devices work best with the Studio, particularly in the context of certified devices (.dcert).
